Emergency Services Epic Vet Care’s emergency services are available 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide the highest level of emergency veterinary care, emergency surgery, and critical care to ensure the well-being of your pet in urgent situations. We will keep you informed every step of the way, working closely with you and your pet’s primary veterinarian to discuss diagnostic and treatment plans throughout the entire process. Two veterinary professionals are examining and treating a small dog on a table in a bright, modern clinic. One person holds the dog while the other works with medical supplies, including a bottle and gauze.

Triage and Wait Times Similar to human emergency rooms, we operate on a triage system to prioritize patients based on the severity of their conditions. While we make every effort to see pets as quickly as possible, there may be wait times. Patients are seen according to the urgency of their medical needs, meaning that some pets who arrive after you may be seen first.

What to Expect When You Arrive

When you arrive at our emergency veterinary clinic, we understand that it can be a stressful and emotional time for both you and your pet. Our goal is to provide prompt, compassionate, and gold standard of care to your pet, and to guide you through the process with clarity and support.

As soon as you arrive, your pet will undergo a brief triage evaluation. This is a quick assessment to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize treatment based on medical need. Our veterinary team is trained to identify critical situations and begin life-saving interventions immediately.
While we focus on your pet’s immediate care, you’ll need to provide some basic information about your pet and their medical history. Our team will assist you in filling out any necessary forms. If possible, please bring your pet’s medical records or any relevant documents, such as vaccination history or medications.
Once your pet’s condition is assessed, we may begin emergency treatment right away, such as administering pain relief, stabilizing vital signs, or providing oxygen. If needed, our team will perform diagnostics, such as blood tests, x-rays, or ultrasounds, to help us determine the best course of action.
We know how important it is to stay informed. Our team will keep you updated on your pet’s condition, treatment plan, and any necessary procedures. We will explain your options and discuss the next steps with you, ensuring you feel comfortable with the decisions being made.
In some cases, your pet may need to be admitted for overnight observation or intensive care. If your pet requires surgery or advanced treatment, we’ll clearly outline the procedure, risks, and costs involved. We will continue to monitor your pet closely, and you’ll be updated throughout their care.

Nobody ever wants to end up at an emergency vet. If you have to, and you have a choice, I highly recommend epic. The doctors are second and none in the entire staff is friendly and compassionate. The facility is beautiful and clean. I can’t say enough about it. It’s amazing.

it became clear in the 1st few minutes of the first visit that this team truly cares about pets and the people who love them. As lifelong pet parents, we have had our expected share of occasional vet emergencies over the years…The facility is welcoming, with a huge, comfortable, waiting area, a well-equipped modern treatment area, and most importantly, the kindest support staff and doctors I've ever met in an emergency clinic. They all are on the same page and have a calm, reassuring presence about them.

Wow - we are so lucky to have these amazing folks in St Pete. We had an emergency with our new rescue - Capri. it's clear that all the employees there care deeply for both pet and owner. Their new facility is simply huge, clean and amazing with anything needed to diagnose and care with a crazy amount of the latest equipment - seemed like they are ready for any type of specialty care. By the end of the day, we had such a peace of mind that we were so cared for during a hard time for us.
